This past weekend we were honored to have popular artist Muriel Timmins (wearing vest) teach our student guests a class on still-life painting. Muriel’s philosophy of painting is expressed on her website http://murieltimmins.com:
“Similar to engaging in a conversation between painter and viewer, a piece of artwork always has something to say – negative/positive, bright/dark, angry/uplifting, humorous/sober. Standing on its own, it’s sort of a tangible emotional statement.”
Those in attendance had things to say, including fellow instructor and commercial artist Alex Jones, head of the educational outreach program at the Gallery: “There was enthusiasm and focus to this effort, and we hope to have more classes like these!”.
Hilltop Gallery & Arts Education Center has a series of monthly of art classes that include painting as well as martial and yoga arts. Adults and children are welcome. Check out the full schedule on our Events & Classes page, or call us for more details.
